Tournament Rules

1. Only active NCA members and associate members in good standing can participate in club tournaments. No guests permitted on any craft participating in club tournament.

2.  Any member checking in at designated weigh-in spot on time will be a legal participant in the tournament.

3. Anglers may launch boats at any location and fish any area they wish. Start time is after 12:01 AM, day of the tournament. Weigh-ins will be held at MacRae’s at 3:00 pm, unless otherwise specified. No fish will be accepted 15 minutes after designated weigh-in time.

4. Fish may be taken by rod and reel only using live, cut or artificial bait. Members participating in fly-fishing tournament must fish fly rods and fly-casting artificial baits only. No other class rods allowed on craft.

5. The length of all fish will be measured for legality and then weighed.

Only one legal fish per targeted species may be entered in tournament.

Only one place will be awarded to any one angler, per species.

If more than one member has a fish of the same weight and species, equal points will be given to each individual.  This pertains to first, second and third place.

Current Florida Saltwater Fishing Regulations will govern legal bag and size limits.  (FWC regulations for measuring fish are as follows:  fish regulated by fork length are measured from the tip of the jaw or tip of the snout with closed mouth to the center of the fork in the tail; fish regulated by total length are measured from the tip of the jaw or tip of the snout with closed mouth to the farthest tip of the tail with the tail compressed.)  Members will be disqualified from the tournament and docked 15 points for each illegal fish presented at weigh-in, i.e., over or undersized, or over bag limit.

6. Points will be awarded to the first three places for targeted species.

First place – 15 points

Second place – 10 points

Third place – 5 points

7. No entry fee is required to fish in tournaments. However, members may enter the Total Weight Jackpot for $5 prior to tournament day. Money will be awarded after the tournament to the angler with the highest total weight.

8. In the event of inclement weather, each individual angler should decide if conditions are unsafe for his boating skills. If weather is obviously a problem, those wishing to fish must notify the Activities Chairman or his designate, before leaving port. Eight members at the weigh-in location, and on time, will constitute a legal tournament. Cancelled tournaments will be fished the next calendar day.

9. A member can fish a tournament with an Associate member.  An Associate member can enter fish in the money part of the tournament, but is not allowed to enter fish for points toward Angler of the Year.

10. For record keeping purposes, members will be required to sign an attendance sheet at the weigh in for at least 2 tournaments or outings per year. 03/01/2007

11. A member bringing a fish to a tournament weigh-in that has been altered in any way will automatically lose his membership in the Nature Coast Anglers Fishing Club.  (08/02/07)
